Dietitian vs Nutritionist in Pakistan: What's the Difference?

In Pakistan, a dietitian is trained in clinical (medical) nutrition, usually through a dietetics degree or postgraduate diploma and hospital training, and can manage diets for diseases. "Nutritionist" is a broader title that covers anyone trained in nutrition science. For medical conditions like diabetes, kidney disease or PCOS, see a qualified clinical dietitian.

Neither is better in general. A clinical dietitian is the right choice for medical conditions, while a qualified nutritionist may suit general wellness goals. Check qualifications and registration either way.

How do I check if a dietitian is qualified in Pakistan?

Ask about their degree (dietetics or a PGD), hospital experience, AHPC registration and PNDS membership. Reputable practitioners share these openly.
